The painters H.J. M?lis, born on 1
September 1845 in Sas of Ghent, came
at a very young age to Rotterdam.
There he the Academy of fine arts,
where he earned a trainee already 2
medals. After not too long, however,
he left the Academy to an independent
study to further develop the natural environment. He was a confirmation of
that time only on the art of painting.
Since 1895 he lived and worked in
Rotterdam. He gave, inter alia,
teaching J.A. F.H. Broek Smith,
"and the Graaff of Rijsewijk h. oats
korn. His own work, was under the
influence of the Hague school.
The landscape was first genre, he was
later to become more and more concerned
with in-and extrieurs with pictures.
M?lis was working on several occasions
to Amsterdam crowned with silver and
gold (1877, Royal gold medal) and
exhibitions abroad, three times with
gold and silver several times with.
He asked the last thirty or so of his
paintings and various watercolours E
xhibition in the art trade Reckers.
For this exhibition said various private
owners, a very famous work by H.J. M?lis
in tone.
M?lis paintings are especially abroad
(UK and us) sold.
H.J. M?lis died on 14 March 1923 in
Rotterdam.
