FB0004 A hallmarked sterling silver George V circular bowl, the rim cast with florets and leafy scrolls and with a dished segmented centre. It weighs 416gms and stands 6.5cms high and is 28cms across the rim. Hallmarked Birmingham 1911-1913 (date mark rubbed and unclear) by the maker the Gorham Manufacturing Company. Although primarily recognised as an American company Gorham had a factory in Birmingham between 1904-1938 thus it's a comparatively rare, yet prestigious, mark. The reputation is founded by such landmark designs as the Davis Cup (tennis), the Americas Cup (yacht racing) and the Borg-Warner Trophy (Indianapolis 500). Their standing in the international silver design and making community is unrivalled. |
