Delightful form from the famous Hoi An shipwreck off the coast of Vietnam... <p>Ancient Pottery Parrot Bowl, ca. 14th-15th century A.D. Blue and white glazed vessel with bowl shaped to resemble a heart (or peach) and parrot laid against the side of bowl with its beak picking on top of bowl rim. Detailing of bird painted in dark blue. ~3-1/4"D x 1-3/8"H, intact/excellent with traces of original sea encrustation. Original SAGA Hoi An Hoard paper label on bottom.
<p>Ceramic wares such as these from the famous Hoi An Hoard / Shipwreck were excavated from a vessel lost in the South China Sea in the mid/late 1500s, salvaged during the summers of 1998–1999.
